Android — one file for every Android screen
The same APK installs on an Android television, a Google TV, a Fire Stick, a telephone and a tablet. What differs is how you get it there, so both ways are below.
Download and open it
Android 7.0 or newer. Your device will ask whether to allow an install from a browser; that question is Android doing its job, and the answer is yes.
A short code, typed with the remote
Install Downloader from your television’s own app store — it is free, and it is the tool these devices expect you to use. Open it, and enter:

Downloader first shows its own page, counting down a few seconds. Leave the remote alone and the download starts by itself.

A television will refuse the install until you allow apps from unknown sources — on Fire TV that is Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options, and on Android TV it is offered at the moment you need it.

Why the televisions can follow quickly
The parsing, the catalogue, the guide matching and the sorting are already written to run without a browser or a desktop underneath them — which is the part that usually has to be done again for every platform.
